Section 1: League Rules
General Rules:
-
Teams are governed by a 30-second shot clock. If the shot clock is not present, the '5' second rule will apply.
-
If a player presses an opponent who has the ball for 5 seconds, and the opponent does not make a pass, it is deemed a turnover.
-
-
Teams are permitted to call timeouts while the game is in progress on the court.
-
Two Timeouts Each Half
-
Teams have the option to call a timeout between free throws.
Overtime Timeouts:
In overtime periods, each team is granted one timeout. Importantly, any unused timeouts from regular play may not be carried over into overtime.
Timeouts at Dead Ball Situations:
If a timeout is called during a dead ball situation in the last two minutes of the game, the team calling the timeout may advance to the frontcourt.
Last 2 Minutes of the Game Timeouts on the Court:
In the final two minutes of the game, if a timeout is called on the court and during live play, the subsequent inbound must occur from the same spot where the timeout was called.
Overtime Duration and Possession:
Overtime periods are set at a duration of 2 minutes, providing teams with an additional opportunity to secure victory. The overtime period commences with possession determined by the possession arrow, ensuring fairness in the allocation of the ball.
Tiebreaker Procedures Jump Ball for Second Overtime:
If the score remains tied after the initial overtime period, a jump ball will determine possession to start the second overtime. In regular-season games, if a tie persists after the second overtime, the team scoring first in the second overtime will be declared the winner.
Substitution Anytime the Ball is Out of Bounds:
Substitutions can be executed at any dead ball situation, including throw-ins, after a made basket, or when a team gains possession after a defensive stop. Teams are granted the opportunity to make player substitutions during timeouts. Substitutions are permitted both before the first attempt and after the last attempt in a free-throw sequence. Substitutions can also be made during live play, as long as the team has full possession.
Playoff Eligibility Criteria:
Players must actively participate in a minimum of 3 regular season games to be deemed eligible for playoff or play-in participation. In the event of injury, players are required to demonstrate commitment to their team by attending three games and sitting on the bench to maintain eligibility.
Team Roster Inclusion:
Eligible players must be officially listed on the team roster to be considered for playoff games. Final team rosters must be completed before the end of the third week of the regular season. Any discrepancies will be reviewed by the league via review of game footage.
Late Addition Pick-Ups:
The decision to allow a late addition will be determined by all team captains within that tier. The league or team captains reserve the right to refuse the addition. Rosters, including any late submissions or special requests, must be communicated exclusively via email or text at least 3 hours before game tip-off.
Strict Non-Registered Player Policy:
Teams found using non-registered players during playoff games will result in immediate forfeiture of the game, with no exceptions.
Post-Deadline Exception:
In special cases, such as injury, where a team needs to add a new player after the submission deadline, (week 2) the team may submit a request to the league. The league commissioners will conduct a vote with all other captains in that tier to make a final decision on the exception.
Playoff Seeding:
Seeding will be determined by wins vs. loses. The primary tiebreaker will be determined by point differential. In the rare event that point differential and head-to-head results fail to break the tie, the overall win-loss record throughout the regular season will be the final determinant.
Late/Forfeits Late Arrival Policy:
If a team fails to assemble a minimum of 5 players on the court within the first 5 minutes of the scheduled start time, that team will be compelled to forfeit the game. In the event the offending team is ready to play within the first 15 minutes, the game clock will commence as scheduled, with 2 points awarded per minute to the non offending team. In the case of a forfeit, the losing team will be given a 15-point loss on the schedule.
Cancellation Policy:
If a team does not give at least a 24 hour notice that they cannot make the scheduled game, the team will be subject to a fine of $100, payable via EMT to dunkdynastybasketball@outlook.com before the next scheduled game. Failure to provide the EMT before the game will result in a 15-point loss on the schedule.

Section 3: Tolerance Policy
In alignment with our commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all participants, we are implementing an updated and comprehensive Zero Tolerance Policy.
The following guidelines have been established to address incidents of fighting, harassment, racial slurs, and verbal abuse during DDBL events. Any player ejected from a game will automatically incur a one-game suspension. Each case will be thoroughly reviewed by DDBL to determine the appropriate course of action.
DDBL reserves the right to ban offenders without issuing refunds.
Consequences for Fighting and Verbal Abuse
Any form of fighting, harassment, racial slurs, or verbal abuse directed at players, staff, referees, or spectators is strictly prohibited. Officials are empowered to issue technical or flagrant fouls and eject individuals (including players, coaches, and fans) involved in such incidents from the game.
Specific Instances
In the event of physical altercations, ejected players will face an automatic one-game suspension. Any member involved in fighting will be suspended for three games without a refund. DDBL retains the right to conduct a comprehensive review, in collaboration with on-site staff and referees, to consider additional suspensions or the removal of teams/players from the league without refund.
Officials are mandated to eject any player throwing a punch, regardless of whether it connects. The same applies to elbow contact above shoulder level. Elbow contact at or below shoulder level will be subject to the official’s discretion regarding ejection. If a punch or elbow is initially undetected but revealed during video review, the player involved will face penalties, including a warning or a one-game suspension.
We appreciate your cooperation in upholding these standards and in fostering a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
